Bessie Florence Bales McDaniel, 92 of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Signature Healthcare. She was born in Mohammad, Illinois and was of Baptist faith. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar McDaniel; three children, Donald McDaniel, Willie McDaniel and Alice Key; her parents, John Milton and Mary Louise Bales; her siblings, Bert Bales, Billy Bales, Ralph Howard Bales, Alice Bales, Rachel Bales, Mary Branscum and Olivia Crews and a son-in-law, Bobby Hicks. Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Hicks Goodman (Ruffus) of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Ginia and Sean and three great-grandchildren, Harley, William and Austin. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Leroy Routt officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
