Ruby Violet Parker

Ruby Violet Parker, 95 of Cecilia, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at The Willows at Citation in Lexington. She was a native of Grand Bank, New Foundland, Canada and a member of College Heights United Methodist Church where she formerly sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Pirtle Chapter #449 and Minnie Selby Court # Order of the Amaranth. Ruby was a volunteer at Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Leroy Parker; three daughters, Bunny Rhoades, Betty Leep, and Constance Louise Parker; her parents, William Poole Matthews and Charlotte Keeping Matthews; and siblings, Ambrose Matthews, Harry Garfield Matthews, Cora Jostiak, Clayton Matthews and Myrtle Matthews. Survivors include one son, William C. (Mary) Parker; one daughter, Joan Marie (Alonzo) Harrod; 13 grandchildren, William Zachary (Natalya) Parker, Sarah Christine (Stephen) Holzknecht, Matthew Charles Parker, Ruby Renee (Dave) Bosshammer, Christa Lynnette (Tom) Bell, Cheryl Denise Howard, Edward Leroy (Tammy) Rice, Timothy Charles (Katherine) Chesteine, Toni Lynn Chesteine (Kenneth) Franklin, Debra Lynn Schwender, William (Karen) Leep, Elsie (Russell) Bailey, Enoch (Michael) Melsom; and many great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Rev. Don Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to College Heights United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
