She was also known as HEY LUNCH LADY!, as she was a well-loved cook in the kitchen of Lincoln Trail Elementary in 1970, and then the Head of the Kitchen at Elizabethtown High School until her retirement in 1994. Doris was a devout Christian Woman and lived her life with her faith in the Lord and was a member of the Church of Christ since she and her family moved back to Elizabethtown from Valley Station in June 1970. As a wife and mother, she took care of a home and was a great cook to four boys. She taught them all at an early age the importance of reading, doing your schoolwork, cleaning your room and being organized. She made all holidays great, especially Christmas where she bought the greatest gifts and cooked the best Christmas morning meals, always ensuring each person got their favorites on the table. She was a big hit at family reunions with her rolls and drop biscuits and was the maker of the best peanut butter pie on this planet. She influenced thousands of young people that came through the lunch line, always there to encourage them to eat proper meals while at school and to follow the rules. She kept great records that has provided a history of her family and took the best pictures that documented many memories. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook, play card games, how to garden, housekeeping, and how to be kind and respectful to people. She loved spending time with her sisters and brother and took many cruises with her sister, Jeannette, and her husband, Wayne Clem. Family was everything to Doris!
