Larry Oren Adwell, born April 18, 1949 of Elizabethtown, KY passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from complications of pneumonia at Baptist Health Hardin. He served his community as a firefighter and an emergency medical technician for the Elizabethtown Fire Department and retired after 25 years of service. He then continued to operate his small business providing fire extinguishers and exit lights for local businesses. Larry was an avid and competitive fisherman who won several local and regional bass tournaments. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and attending car shows, in which he won several best-in-show awards. Larry was a Christian and belonged to Severns Valley Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and served in the media ministry. God's Hand was on Larry, it was uncanny how he frequently came across emergency situations to deliver aid in his off time from work and into his retirement. Larry will be fondly remembered for his extraordinary "luck", good humor, and steadfast friendship. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carmen Adwell; two children, Cybil (Robert) Sisk and Joel (Lauren) Adwell; and four grandchildren, Levi Sisk, Evelyn Sisk, Maisey Adwell, and Ramsie Adwell. The funeral is Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Dr. Matt Beasley officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and continues after 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Severns Valley Baptist Church Building Fund.
