Peter Joseph Nolan

Peter PeteJoseph Nolan, 90, of Elizabethtown, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Tender Touch Heart and Home. Pete was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Peter and Eileen Nolan. He joined the Army in 1953 and served at Fort Knox during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Ethel, while stationed at Fort Knox and they married in 1955, just after Petes honorable discharge from the Army. They lived in Philadelphia for 10 years where Pete was a contractor, installing storm windows and hanging drapes in cathedrals. They moved to Kentucky in 1966 and Pete became a well-known dairy farmer until his retirement in 2002. Pete was past President of Hardin County Farm Bureau and past President of the Hardin County Extension Council. He was a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and was chairman of numerous building committees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Joseph Nolan and Eileen Conway Nolan, his granddaughter, Adelaide Luckett, as well as his brother, Robert Nolan. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ethel Nichols Nolan, of Elizabethtown; his children, David (Lawana) Nolan, Debby (Darryl) Boyd, Peter Nolan and Linda (John) Luckett; two sisters, Nora DePalma and Eileen Cooper, of New Jersey; ten grandchildren, Billy (Angela) Boyd, Jimmy (Dianna) Boyd, Jasmine (Obed) Rugama, Dr. Jessi (Josh) Birdwell, Dr. Cloe (Nathan) Gray, Andrew (Cynthia) Nolan, Sarah Boyd, Josiah (Lindsey) Nolan, Jared (Mollie) Nolan, and nine great-grandchildren, Campbell, Theo, Sloane, Evelyn, Sonia, Scout, Rosie, Merritt, Huck and Finn; and numerous relatives and friends. The funeral is at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 22nd, at Valley Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Scott Kerr officiating. Burial follows in Valley Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 21st, at Brown Funeral Home and continues at Valley Creek Baptist Church, 4685 Springfield Road, Elizabethtown, after 11 a.m. Thursday, December 22nd.
