Steve Allen Murphy

Steve Allen Murphy, 67 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, December 12, 2022 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. He was a native of Boise, Idaho and retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years as a MSgt. Steve was most proud of his time with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Nightstalkers). He received the Meritorius Service Medal six times and the Army Commendation Medal five times. He received the Army Achievement Medal and the Good Conduct Medal (7). Steve also received the Joint Meritorius Unit Award- Kuwait Liberation Medal. He graduated from the Seargants Major Academy in 1993. He was a member of Crossroads Church in Radcliff. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Allen Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Gisel Durry-Murphy; one daughter, Stefanie (Randy) Hohensee of Lexington; two grandchildren, Savannah and Mason, who were his pride and joy; his mother, Marilee Murphy of Washington; one brother, Mitchell (Tina) Murphy of Washington; a niece and nephew, Jessica (Justin) Togiai and Joshua (Sarah) Murphy; one sister, Shannon (Mark) Walker of Washington; and a nephew, Steve Walker. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 12 noon at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Dummit officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
