Ellen Jane Rissler Harvey

Ellen Jane Rissler Harvey, 71, of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at her home. She was born May 17, 1951, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Raymond Lester Rissler and Doris Bitely Ide Rissler. Ellen married Mark Harrison Harvey on May 26, 1973, at Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She loved to share that their 50th Wedding Anniversary would be in May 2023. Anyone who knew Ellen knew she loved the Lord (had been active in the local Emmaus community for years), had a heart of gold, loved unconditionally, and was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was genuine, honest, precious, and loving. She was so proud of her family and was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Ellen's priorities were being involved in all of her family's activities, which often included family gatherings, church functions, and sporting events. Something Ellen always cherished was being an identical twin. As an identical twin, she adored having a built-in best friend whom she was able to share so many life experiences with. She often would notice other twins in public and would always find joy in sharing that she too was a twin. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Doris Rissler; and son-in-law, Troy Rickman. Survivors include her dear husband, Dr. Mark Harvey of Elizabethtown, whom she adored; three children, Stephen (Sarah Jane) Harvey, of Colorado, Julia (Chad) McBeth of Elizabethtown, and Jenny Rickman of Owensboro; siblings including her twin sister, Pat (Tom) Schnepf of Georgia, Tom (Nancy) Rissler of New York, Betsy (Patrick) Keefe and Jim (Nancy) Rissler, both of Louisville, Kentucky; and eight grandchildren, Kayla Peace, Lincoln Harvey, Walker Harvey, Owen Harvey, Maggie Jane Harvey, Easton McBeth, Ethan Rickman, and Noah Rickman. Her funeral service will be held at Grace Heartland Church, 801 Pear Orchard Road in Elizabethtown, KY, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. EST, officiated by Pastor Jeff Noel. The visitation will take place on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. EST. and 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, which is also at the church. Burial follows in Hardin Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed online at brownfuneral.com.
