Nga Thi Tran Le

Nga Thi Tran Le, MD (Helene Nga), 78, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away on October 14, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born June 1944 in Ben Tre, Vietnam, to Con Tran, MD, and Mrs. Qui Vo. She grew up and schooled in Paris, France, and Cambridge, England, and eventually returned to Saigon in 1966. She married Ha Le, MD, in 1968 and had three sons prior to moving from Vietnam to Louisville, KY, in 1975 and then to Elizabethtown, KY, in 1978. She studied mathematics at Cambridge University, earned a masters degree in French literature as well as a pharmacy degree in Vietnam, and then completed her medical degree in 1996 at the University of Louisville. Dr. Nga Le was a practicing family physician, acupuncturist, and ardent missionary doctor. She was highly active in her church, theology studies, philanthropy, and real estate management. Some of her many charitable activities included supporting orphanages and schools for homeless children in Vietnam as well as mission trips to Haiti. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Tai Le. She is survived by her husband; three sons Tao Le, MD (Thao Pham, MD), Thomas Thong Le, MD (LoAn Lai, MD), and Hao Le, MD (Jennifer Le, MD); four grandchildren Hiep Le, Anh Le, MyCo Le, and Madelyn Le; and three brothers Dat Tran, Thang Tran, and Vinh Tran. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22 at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, KY. Burial follows at 1 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, KY. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 21, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. James Catholic Church in her memory or St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Louisville in her memory.
