Retired Master Sergeant Donna L. (Donnie) Thomas of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 17, 2022. She served a combined total of 25 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army National Guard Reserve. During her tenure of service, she was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 Rd Oak Leaf Cluster/6th Award), Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster/6th Award), Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), The Legion of Merit, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), And Southeast Asia Service Medal With 2 Bronze Stars. Donnie was also the Owner and Operator of Body & Sole Massage Therapy in Elizabethtown for 20 years after her military service. She provided much needed and appreciated relief to hundreds of customers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis A. and Rita J. Thomas. Survivors include six sisters, Carmen (Craig) Curtiss of Elizabethtown, Terry (John) Bull of Georgetown, Texas, Robyn Thomas, Karen Thomas, Jan (Dave) Thomas and Brenda (John) Thomas, all of Elizabethtown; one brother, Kenny Thomas of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 29th at 1:30 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a Military Charity of your choice.
