Paul Joseph Simon

Paul Joseph Simon, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on August 29, 2022, with his wife, children, family and friends by his side. Paul was born on November 11, 1964 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. A graduate of Elizabethtown High School and Western Kentucky University. He had a long and successful career in the outdoor entertaining/grill industry, and in 2021 became the CEO of Halo Product Group in Elizabethtown. Paul passionately loved his family, his church and church family and friends and above all, his Lord and Savior, and served all of them fervently and faithfully. He was passionate about his service to God at Severns Valley Baptist Church and in its Worship Arts and Celebrate Recovery Ministries and shared his faith in Jesus and the powerful work of Christ in his life every chance he was given. Paul was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed more than words can express, but his family celebrates his life and is thankful to the Lord for the assurance that he is more alive now than he has ever been in the glories of Heaven where he is singing, with his whole heart and beautiful voice as loud as he can, praises to King Jesus. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Simon, and his uncle, Dan Simon. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Christie Funkhouser Simon, and 7 children, Kennedy Simon, Mallory Simon Kubala (Nate Kubala), Wesley Simon, Molly Simon, Makayla Simon, Jessica Simon and Katelyn Simon; mother, Lurline Simon; sister, Cathy Simon Ray (Kevin Ray); and brother, Ret. Col. Mark Simon (Lora Simon); mother-in-law, Nancy Funkhouser; father-in-law, Darrell Funkhouser (Debbie Funkhouser), brothers-in-law, Joshua Funkhouser and Charles Casey; sister-in-law, Kim Casey; sisters and brothers-in law, Melanie Ray Twyman (Tony Twyman) and Valette Ray Smith (Greg Smith); nieces and nephews, Ashley Ray Poole (Michael Poole), Corbett Simon (Chelsea Simon), Chloe Simon, Camilla Simon, Anthony Casey, Julianne Casey, Jenna Casey. Colin Twyman (McKenna Poole Twyman), Will Steen (Brianna Steen) and Nick Steen; and a great niece and two nephews, Emersyn Poole; Sawyer Twyman and Landon Twyman. The funeral is at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 1, in the Worship Center of Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. Burial follows at St. James Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Worship Center at Severns Valley.
