Anna Corazzi Wood

Anna Corazzi Wood, 107 of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born in Cortona, Italy, she spent the first 30 years of her life coping with the traumatic impact of two world wars. In 1945, she met the love of her life, Glenn Wood, an American Air Force officer stationed in Florence, Italy. After a two-year courtship, they married in 1947 at the Presidio in California and enjoyed 24 years of marriage prior to his death in 1971. During the early years of their marriage, they were stationed at multiple Air Force bases, with each of their four children being born in a different state or country, but following Captain Wood's retirement in 1959, the family moved to Elizabethtown and made this community their home. Anna was devoted to her immediate family, her church family, and a host of friends from various ages and states who referred to her as 'Mama Wood' or 'their other Mom'. She was a prayer warrior who exemplified God's love in all she did. That love even extended to her garden as she talked to her flowers and plants, touching each one with tender care. Birds never went hungry at Anna's home; you were bound to find morsels of food in the yard for them to nibble, and she swore they talked to her. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Wood; her parents, Pasquale Corazzi and Benvenuta Checconi Corazzi; two sisters, Caterina Frolli and Giuseppa Pelucchini; two brothers, Corrado and Guiseppe Corazzi; and a nephew, Giulio Pelucchini. Survivors include three daughters, Cora Wood, Glenna (Brian) Black, Ona (Barry Morrison) Wood, one son, Willie (Kim) Wood; six precious grandchildren, Bethany Finlay, Brooke (Terry) Cox, Tiffany (Wade) Barnes, Todd Wood, Adam (Ericka) Finlay, and Benet (Ali) Finlay; eleven adorable great-grandchildren, Dylan Barnes, Anna-Kate Cox, Lilian Barnes, Reece Finlay, Gavin Barnes, Olivia Cox, Ryder Wood, Audrina Finlay, Benet Finlay, Nova Lee Cloud, and Rhett Finlay; a nephew and two nieces in Italy, Corrado Pelucchini, Maria Luisa Petrucci, and Anna Fruscoloni; and extended family members in Indiana, Kentucky, and Texas. The funeral is Thursday at 11 a.m. at Severns Valley Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at Fort Knox Main Post Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home and continues after 9 a.m. Thursday at Severns Valley Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be sent to the Severns Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 1100 Ring Road, Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Condolences may be expressed online at brownfuneral.com.
