Bettie Jean Polley Skees

Bettie Jean Polley Skees, 91 of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Baptist Health Hardin. Bettie was born August 7, 1930 in Magnolia, KY to Ada and Gaines Polley. She was married to Marion Skees for 59 years before he passed in 2007. Bettie worked at Bussman’s for 20 years and at Tunnell Hill Flowers for 27 years, where she co-managed and was an excellent designer. During her life she could do anything she put her mind to. She always worked tirelessly until the job was complete, never complaining; taking care of her family, working, sewing, cooking, gardening, canning, helping at St. James School and St. James Catholic Church. She loved her Church family. She had 5 children, Phillip (Annette) Skees of Louisville, Bill Skees, Gery (Vickie) Skees and Jeanie (Keith) Mouser all of Elizabethtown and Louis Skees, deceased infant son. Grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sara) Skees, Julie Skees, Rebecca (Tommy) Keeton, Hans (Priya) Mouser, Isaac Mouser, Mykka Mouser, Maddison Mouser, Jessie (Tommy) D'Andrea, and Jacob Skees. We would like to thank all of her nurses and caregivers at Baptist Health Hardin, Peridot Personal Care Center and Robin Brooke Assisted Living.
