Marcella Skees Hill

MARCELLA ANN SKEES HILL, 84 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, July 15 at Signature @ North Hardin after fighting a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Marcella was born on March 15, 1938 to Leon and Frances Peerce Skees of White Mills. She attended Lynnvale School in White Mills and achieved perfect attendance for all 12 years. She was involved in school activities, including cheerleading. After graduating from high school, Marcella planned to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C. , however, her mother suddenly died and Marcella made the decision to help her father and grandmother raise the younger siblings, including the youngest twin sisters. Marcella worked for the KY State Police and eventually retired as a court reporter, serving the Hardin County justice system. Marcella was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Michael Skees and Eugene Skees, sisters Delores Barnett, Loretta Skees, and Regina Kennedy. Moo, as she was affectionally known by family, is survived by her daughter Marcia Tipton (Mike); grandsons Spencer Tipton (Barbara) and Taylor Tipton (Claire); great-grandchildren, Heidi, Jaxson, Nolan and William Tipton; her brother Thomas Skees (Brenda), sister Nina Bohanon (Paul), Joetta Simpson, and Doretta Kerr (Ronnie); and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral for Marcella will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in White Mills. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
