Emogene Gore Cox, 93 of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 10, 2022. She was born May 5, 1929 to Harry and Josephine Gore of Stephensburg. She was a homemaker who loved God, her family, flowers, animals, and feeding her birds daily. Emogene was married to the love of her life, Hillard Cox, for 62 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hillard H.D. Cox; her parents, Harry and Josephine Gore; a daughter, Marilyn; a son, Michael Wayne; two brothers, Harvey and Billy Gore; five sisters, Neeta Lipsey, Nellie Grimes, Fern Laird, Mable Browning, and Ruth Crowe; one granddaughter, Tina Compton; a grandson, John Phelps V; and a great- grandson, Derek Allen Dile. She is survived by her children, Roger Cox and Gloria (Ronnie) Compton, both of Elizabethtown, Donnie Cox and Janice (Mark) Bennett, both of Upton, Tom (Lori) Cox of Cecilia, Sandy (David) Morrow of Louisville, and Doug (April) Cox of Caneyville; 25 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. The funeral is Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Pastor Steve Shelton officiating. Burial follows at Hardin Memorial Park.
