John P. Manning

John P. Manning, 91 of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Baptist Health Hardin. He was a native of Clinton, TN. He lived a life of public service, including a career as a Kentucky State Trooper, the first trial commissioner judge in Hardin County, deputy jailer and deputy sheriff. He loved his family and was a devoted family historian. He was also a faithful charity supporter especially for Mt. Carmel High School for which he founded several scholarships. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Neva Manning; his parents, George and Edith Manning; two brothers, Kenneth Manning and Lloyd Manning and two sisters, Lila Kay Hobbs and Judith Young He is survived by two sons, Steve (Pam) Manning of Vine Grove and Jeff Manning of Radcliff; three daughters, Jonnie (Luke) Bonnett and Shirley Manning all of Elizabethtown and Neva (Jim) Engel of Rineyville; six sisters, Glenna Hensley, Marla Vowell, Erma Coffey, Lulan Fanjoy, Vickie Hooker and Beverly Grimm; grandchildren, John Manning, Justin Manning, Richard Ramsey, Melany Yates, Jefferson Manning, Mack Manning, Summer Parrett, Rachel Upton, Barry Engel, Jimmy Engel and Tyler Engel; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Becky Shagool. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rineyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
