James Robert Burks, Sr., 74, of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday, March 18, at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was a member of the VFW and long-time employee of Herb Jones Chevrolet. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Burks, Sr. and Jane Miller Burks. He is survived by one son, Jimmy (Lori) Burks of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Jo Anna (Jack) Breunig of Elizabethtown, and Mary Stuart (Daren) Peace of Louisville; one brother, John (Jann) Burks, Jr. of Lexington; one sister, Janet (Terry) Sims of Charlestown, IN; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 9 nieces and 1 nephew. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continues after 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
