Duane Carl Whitford, 85, of Elizabethtown, KY passed away March 2, 2022 at Kensington Nursing Home. He was a member of College Heights United Methodist Church and a past member of the International Harvester Collectors Kentucky Chapter #24. He served in the United States Army in Yokohama, Japan as a teletype operator. He lived in Ashley, Michigan and Lansing, Michigan before moving to Elizabethtown. He worked as a machinist for Industrial Welding and Hancock Mechanical. Born to Carl Whitford and Hilda Bigelow, in Elsie, Michigan, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; a brother, RG; and sister, Carlene. He is survived by two sisters, Sharon (Art) Nott and Pat (Larry Parks); and one brother, Wilford Whitford. He is also survived by four children, Connie (Bob) Allen, Margaret Weeks, Tina (Mike) Serra, and Maureen Denham; eight grandchildren, Sean (Donnita) Weeks, Terry (Caprial) Moran, David Woodward, Krista (Matthew) Jenkins, Rachel (Corey Vaughn) Serra, Maria Serra, Michael Allen and Daniel Allen; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hannah Jenkins; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. He will then be transported to Smith Family Funeral Home in Ithaca, Michigan for a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022. The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Smith Family Funeral Home Ithaca Chapel. Burial follows in North Star Cemetery.
