Emelie Allen

Emelie Allen, 86, of Eastview, formerly of Ashland, went to be home with the Lord on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Emelie was born on March 7th, 1935 in Ashland, Kentucky to Bert and Sydna McSurley Kouns. In 1942, she married the love of her life, Homer Allen. Together they had four children. While living in Ashland, Emelie was a member of Meade Station Church of God, where she participated in church gatherings and was known for delicious food creations. She worked at Hills Department Store and Cannonsburg Elementary, where she served as part of the cafeteria staff. In 1996, she moved to Eastview to be closer to her family. She attended White Mills Christian Church and was known in the community for her hot dog sauce that was served at the White Mills Baseball Park. She loved watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball games and fishing. Most of all, she loved spending time and being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidna and Bert Kouns; her husband, Homer Allen; brothers, Willard Kouns, June Kouns, James Kouns, Ruck Kouns; sisters, Juanita McIntyre, Opal McKnight, Frankie Harr, Hazel Bowling; and her daughters, Dianne, Joanne Allen, and Rita Cornette. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Campbell of Eastview, a grandson, Adam (Jessica) Campbell of Eastview; grandaughters, Melissa (Robert) Dover of Eastview and Alyson Cornette of Eastview; and seven great- grandchildren, Sydney, Noah, Sawyer, Brady, Carter, Carson, and Madilynn. The funeral is Monday at 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Monday and continues until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimers Association in Emelies memory.
