Harold Wayne Hunt

Harold Wayne Hunt, 84 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 after a hard-fought battle against COVID- Pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Reba Hunt; his son, David Hunt, and two brothers, Cecil and Orville Hunt. Harold is survived by his wife, Carol Hunt; his children, Wayne (Judy) Hunt, Allen (Patty Schultz) Hunt and Susan (Gene) Ray; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hunt, David Hunt, Kelsie Murray and Heather Smith; six great grandchildren, Kaden Hunt, Payton Hunt, Emmalynn Murray, Westyn Murray, Emerson Smith and Harper Smith. When his grandchildren started blessing him with great grandchildren, he never could get their names right. Kaden was always knucklehead or knot head, Emmalynn was always Emmy or Emily, Weslyn was always Wesley or simply my little buddy. There was never any doubt how much he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A smile would light up his face anytime they walked into the room and he loved to tease them. Harold worked as a truck driver for several years then worked at Collis Inc. until he retired. He was a lifetime farmer, grew tobacco, worked in the hayfields, and always had horses in his fields. He was a member of the Central Kentucky Draft Horse & Mule Association. Harold never met a stranger and was blessed with the gift of gab, he loved to tell stories to anyone that would listen. Harold loved giving others a hard time, it was one of the ways you knew he liked you. In the summertime you could always find Harold outside sitting under the shade tree. He never let life slow him down, he never stopped working or finding something to get into. He was still out working the hayfields, going to horseshows, draft horse meetings and watching or supporting his grandchild. He supported his family no matter what. Harold will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and continue after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
