Dorothea "Dot" Black On December 6, 2021, Dorothea Dot Black (86), passed away at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Ann Sparks, her sister, Barbara Clark and her brother, Rodney Sparks. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Franklin Black, her four children; Jennifer (Guthrie) True, Melinda (Tim) Patterson, Renee Black, Matt (Joanna) Black and her sister, Sandra Lynn Sparks. She has 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Dot selflessly gave her life loving, encouraging, and challenging her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was committed to living a life that both pleased God and showed His grace. She showed love to everyone she met. Her faith and trust in Jesus was an anchor for her family. Born in Cullman, Alabama in 1935 and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Dot met the love of her life, Frank and became a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church for 50 years. It was her mission to seek out visitors after each service and welcome them as guests. She was a one woman Welcome Wagon! We were blessed on Earth to have such a Godly woman in our lives. Dot will always be remembered and honored as one who embodied a life well lived with a heart of Gold. The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Emory Riley officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
