Johnnie Lee Barrett

Johnnie Lee Barrett, 89 of Elizabethtown, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at his home. He was a native of New Hall, WV, and proudly served in the U.S. Army for twenty years. He was also a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He retired after 20 years with the state of Kentucky and volunteered with the HMH Auxiliary and the Veterans Administration Hospital, having driven veterans to Louisville to the VA hospital for five years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Naomi "Sue" Barrett; his parents, Greenville Barrett and Cora Privette Barrett; one sister, Mary Blevins; and two brothers, Jackie and Nicky Barrett. He is survived by one son, Michael Barrett of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Sherry (Brian) Collier of Lexington; and two grandchildren whom he adored, Abigail Elise Collier and Isaiah Michael Collier. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Chasteen officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
