Barbara Ann Drake

Barbara Ann Drake, 75, left for her heavenly home on September 15, 2021, after a battle with dementia Alzheimer's. Barbara was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Barbara was the first born of John and Sallie (Jutz) Belviy on August 3, 1946. Barbara was primarily raised in Louisville, KY, with her brother Johnnie and sister Bonnie. Barbara was of Catholic faith and attended Guardian Angels Catholic School in Louisville. She met the love of her life at a teen club dance at Durrett High School in Louisville that led to marriage. Barbara and Bill had recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. She dedicated her life to being a loving and supporting wife, and a mother of three daughters. Her family then grew with 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was always there to help through the ups and downs and challenges and share her love with her family. Barbara enjoyed playing bingo, playing at least once or twice a week. She was one of those that could easily play several sheets of cards at once and even help you out with yours at the same time. She was also an expert Skip-bo card player and could still beat you, even when her condition was rapidly declining, and she could no longer communicate. Another one of her favorite past times was shelling. Her and Bill would spend the winters in Florida, and she would walk the beaches and collect shells for hours. Barbara was also a great cook and will be remembered for her delicious turkey, dumplings and dressing at Thanksgiving, her lasagna, homemade pizza, and bread pudding. She is survived by her husband, William Drake; three daughters, Sherry (Ricky) Thomas, Lisa (Dana) Stewart and Brenda Brown; a brother, Johnnie Belviy; a sister, Bonnie Molenhour; eight grandchildren, who she adored, Corey (Tara) Thomas, Tiffany (Karsten) Clements, Cody Thomas (Delanie Walker), Nathan (Lauren) Stewart, Ryan (Alayna) Stewart, Greg (Ashlyn) Stewart, Amanda Brown (Justin Goldman) and Anthony Brown; and eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date. In memory of Barbara, please do a random act of kindness or donate to a charity.
