Rev. Elva "Dean" Daugherty

Rev. Elva "Dean" Daugherty, 78 of Elizabethtown, went home to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dean was born April 6, 1943 in Solway, KY to Calvin and Bradie Daugherty. He married the love of his life Betty at the age of 18 and spent 59 years with her. During these years, he worked at many places, GE, Kitchen Kompact, Thermoplastiks and was the co-owner of Daugherty Brothers Logging. Dean and Betty had three children and he was called to preach and was a Pastor to many churches. He touched many people with his sermons and led many to God. He was a charter member of Liberty Chapel Church in Cecilia. He was met in heaven by his parents, Calvin and Bradie Daugherty; brothers, Lannie, Mitchell, Cecil "C.J.", Randall and Billy Daugherty. He was also welcomed by his grandson Jesse Blackstone, sister-in-laws, Pat Daugherty and Laverna Nugent, as well as many others. Dean is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Dean Sutton Daugherty; daughters, Deana Smallwood and Delana (Greg) Blackstone and son, Denny Daugherty; one brother, Herbert (Bobbie Jo) Daugherty; sister, Alberta (Russell) Butterworth and sister-in-law, Sylvia Daugherty. He also leaves behind 9 grandkids; 10 great grandkids; his fur baby, Tucker and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Poynter and Rev. Tony Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
