James Alan Livers

James A. Livers, 74 of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 after losing his battle with Bulbar Type ALS. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Jim managed his illness with strength, grace and humility, passing with his wife of 52 years, who he adored more than anything else in the world, by his side. Jim, a native of Louisville, Kentucky and proud 1964 graduate of Flaget High School, going on to attend Eastern Kentucky University. A self-starter, Jim became a successful entrepreneur, first working on high performance cars, and then graduating into the automotive repair and wholesale warehouse business. He made many friends through his work in the automotive industry and was highly respected for his insight and leadership skills. Over time, Jim began to diversify his business interests, first as a franchisor within his own automotive repair business and later, as a business franchisee in the food industry. Jim even opened an All- American style restaurant, Mallards with one of his daughters and son-in-law. Always a detailed thinker, he began to invest in numerous commercial real estate properties across Kentucky and Indiana, serving as a landlord to many long-term tenants, who often commented on his kindness and generosity in helping others succeed in their own ventures. Jim had many hobbies. In his free time, Jim could be found tinkering with cars, flying ultralight airplanes, farming, or boating. He loved being on the water, spending many weekends on the lake while raising his family. Regardless of what he was doing, one could always find Jim listening to many of his favorite 50's and 60's oldies music. Jim will always be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, and a true friend, with high integrity. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Burnett and Helen Walters Livers, maternal grandparents- Marie Walters Craddock Nix and Rue Nix, and paternal grandparents- Myrtle Allen Livers and Burnett James Livers. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Connie Lee (Hawkins) Livers, a partner always by his side in all he did, as well as their four daughters: Tonya Renee Whittington (John), Stephanie Marie Livers, Angela Lynn Hoskins (Gregory), and Kristina Louise Eiden, a brother, Daniel Robert Livers (Jane), 6 grandchildren: Ashley, Richard "Bud", Ash, Aidan, Brianna, and Logan, and 3 great grandchildren- Kaeden, Ailah, and Beaumont. He will be greatly missed by many close friends.
