Joyce Wimp Wooden

Joyce Wimp Wooden went peacefully to be with her Lord on July 6, 2021, surrounded by her family. Joyce was born September 15, 1940, in Eastview, KY to the late Ernest Nichols and Calvery Lewis. Her beloved grandmother Zula (Grannie) Goodman helped raise her. In 1956 she married Jimmy Wimp and they made their home and raised their two sons on the family farm in Cecilia where she continued to reside for the remainder of her life. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class and previously was a member of Cecilia United Methodist Church. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star at Stephensburg Lodge 212. She was a past president of the 17th district and Howevalley PTA, past member of Hardin County Fair Squares and Bear Tracks, and was actively involved in the Cecilia community. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, James E. (Jimmy) Wimp, her parents, Ernest Nichols and Calvery Lewis, and brother, Wilbur Nichols. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Gerald Wooden of Cecilia; her sons, James Wimp (Iva) of Vine Grove and Mike Wimp (Cindy) of Cecilia; four grandchildren, Cory (Stephanie) Wimp, Shanda (Doug) Huckleby, Craig (Michelle) Wimp, and Kyle (Maggie) Wimp; six great-grandchildren, Landon Wimp, Gauge Wimp, Maci Wimp, Teagan Wimp, Bently Wimp and Darin Wimp; two brothers, Wilie Nichols and Ronnie Nichols; step-children, Gerald Wooden, Judy Kerr, Gail Gribbins, Beverly Lucas, Rhonda Rentas and Sherry Wooden; a special sister-in-law, Iva Lee Yates Saltsman; a special niece, Betty Horton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Don Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
