Anthony "Tony" Raymond Singer, age 76, of Rineyville died peacefully at home surrounded by beloved family on Thursday, June 24. He grew up in the Cecilia community of Hardin County and was a member of Open Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Tony graduated from Howevalley High School in 1962 and went on to work as co-owner of Cecilia Center Hardware, plant manager of Dow Corning, and eventually retired after 33 years at Dow Corning. Tony also gave back to the community through his 50+ years of work as a builder, contractor, and real estate agent. Tony was a role model, mentor, and patriarch to his family. The hard-working, loving, Christian example he set for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews is one that will carry on long beyond his earthly life. He accomplished many things through the years by building homes and helping families, but his greatest accomplishment was to be saved by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the alter of a small, country church. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Matthew Singer; his mother, Nina Addington; a son, Michael Anthony Singer; and a brother, Leroy Singer. He is survived by his cherished wife of 58 years, Shirley; his son, Marty; his daughter, Michelle; five grandchildren: Letina (Sean) Warren, Danielle (Josh) Hagans, Stephen (Callie) Dye, Jenna Singer, and Lauren Dye; ten great-grandchildren: Braeden and Hailey, Jayden and Jameson, Cooper, Riley, and Ronnie, and Jacob, Hunter, and Easton; a brother, Bruce (Pat) Singer. Tony also has many beloved family members, friends, and co-workers who will treasure his memory. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Open Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Malcolm Doyle and Rev. Jeff Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in Howevalley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home and continue from 10 -1 p.m. Tuesday at Open Valley Baptist Church.
