Betty Jane Hart, 73 of Eastview went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown. She was a native of Hardin County, born at home and raised by her mom, Virginia and grandparents, John Quincy and Hattie Brown. She was a 1966 graduate of Clarkson High School and a former employee of Sandy's Restaurant in Leitchfield, Elizabethtown Sportswear, Roses Department Store and retired from the Cecilian Bank. Her passions were serving Jesus, loving her family, and loving her friends. Saved at an early age, she was baptized and attended First Baptist Church in Leitchfield. The church bus ministry and vacation bible school were dear to her because of the need to bring children to know Christ. Later she joined Pole Bridge Baptist Church and served as secretary/treasurer. Being an example of Christ was so important to her, as she wanted her family and friends to know that everlasting life is only through him. Known as mamaw Betty to Levi and Luke, she spent many early mornings and late nights traveling to baseball games from t-ball to college games. When Levi married Shelly, she gained a granddaughter. They shared a love for cooking. Many afternoons were spent watching cooking shows and sharing recipes. She was also known as Aunt Betty to her nieces and nephews. Betty enjoyed serving her community through the Hardin County Extension service as her local chapter Homemaker club president. Homemaker friendships and bunco friendships were dear to her heart. Early years were spent vacationing with friends to Florida and Missouri. Memories were made with Wanda and Jerry Martin, Patty and Larry Helm, Phillip and Pam Risner, Harold and Alice Johnson, and Kathy Brown. After Richard retired from Gates and she retired from the Cecilian Bank, time was spent at home on the farm. Her enjoyment came from sitting or swinging on the porch watching Levi and Luke play in the yard, sharing David's hunting stories, and listening to Richard about the garden, the cattle and his dog Red. A car accident in 1993 caused mobility issues but never slowed her love or service for others. Recently she was cared for in her home by her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and caretaker Theresa Clark. Her son-in-law David loved and supported her and made it possible for her to be taken care of in her own home. The comfort home allowed her to share more birthdays and holidays with her immediate family, and make memories with her brother Kenny and family, and sister Carolyn and family. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard Lewis Hart on November 10, 2016; mother, Virginia Brown King; stepfather, Bradley King; father, George B. Miller; sister, Judith Ann Howard and best friend, Wanda Martin. She is survived by her daughter Dena (David) McCamish of Eastview; grandsons, Levi (Shelly) McCamish of Elizabethtown and Luke McCamish of Eastview; brothers, Kenny (Bonita) Miller of Clarkson, George (Paulette) Miller of Eastview, Clifford Miller and Mike Miller both of Elizabethtown; sisters, Carolyn Schafer of Leitchfield and Debbie (Wayne) Skaggs of Rineyville and numerous friends and family. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Summit United Methodist Church with Bro. Edward Dennis and Bro. Bill Felker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
