Jacob McGhee Russell

Jacob McGhee Russell of Elizabethtown, KY, age 34, humble and faithful servant to his Lord Jesus Christ, left this world for his heavenly home on May 22nd. Jacob is survived by his father, Ray Russell, his mother, Cindy Wittman (Tom), sister, Jessica Russo, nephew, Mickey Russo, stepsister, Rebecca Wittman, stepbrother, Doug Wittman (Angel) and nephew, Patrick Wittman. Jacob also leaves to cherish his memory his paternal family, Grandmother Lucille Russell, uncles Steve Russell and David Russell (Vickey); maternal family, Grandmother Nancy Davis, uncle Brad Davis, and aunt Amy Hall (Tim), as well as many cherished cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Malcolm M. Russell, and Earl M. Davis, Sr. Jacob graduated from Elizabethtown High School and was a proud alumnus of Western Kentucky University. He was an avid sports fan and equally loved his Hilltoppers and UK Wildcats. From a young age, Jacob sought to understand and abide by the Word of God, which he loved with his whole being. He was a devout man of faith who lived his life to answer the call of the Great Commission by spreading the word of Christ. As an ordained minister, Jacob spent his short time on earth as a youth pastor sowing the seeds of faith and salvation and making an impact on not only the many youth and families, he had the privilege to serve, but literally everyone he met. From churches in Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia, to mission trips abroad, college campuses and church camps throughout the United States, Jacob loved well, served tirelessly, and passionately lived out the love of Christ. Jacob possessed a contagious and joyous spirit and everyone he met called him friend or family...because he truly was. For many, he was the light in an often-dark place, and he brought out the best in all who were fortunate to know him. Jacob had the biggest smile, an infectious laugh, gave the most amazing hugs, and was a living example of the kindness, love and genuine care we all needed. Jacob was the best son his parents could ever have dreamed to have, the most loving and protective big brother to his sister Jessica, and an amazing uncle to his sweet nephew Mickey, who he loved with all his heart. Heaven is a brighter place because of his presence and our lives are far richer for having known him. We are grateful and blessed for the precious time we were allowed to love and be loved by our sweet Jacob. He will be forever missed but his memory and legacy will live on forever in the many lives he touched. Rest in peace, J-Boy. "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
