William Michael "Willy" McVicker

William Michael McVicker Jr, age 42, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, left this earth to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Baptist Health Hardin, with his loving mother by his side. William, known to all as "Willy," courageously lived a full life, despite a lifelong illness. Ultimately, Willy was a fighter, living many years past expectations. He passed away almost 20 years after the passing of his sister, Emily Mae McVicker, and almost 34 years after the passing of his brother, Andrew Miles McVicker, who both courageously fought the same illness. Willy was born August 16, 1978, in Danville, Kentucky, to William Sr. and Cynthia McVicker. As an infant, Willy moved with his parents to Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where he resided the rest of his life. Despite limitations due to his illness, Willy's life was a delight to all, enhanced tremendously by a large extended family, whom he loved with all his heart. On almost a daily basis, Willy enjoyed the love and companionship of his grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, countless cousins, cousin's children, and friends. No one was immune from walking into Willy's house and receiving his famous greeting, "That's (person name here)!!!". He was truly excited and happy to see each and every person who visited. When he smiled at you, you felt like you mattered. Willy had a strong faith in Jesus, bolstered by the profound love and support of Brooks Baptist Church, where he trusted in Jesus and was baptized. He loved going to church, and would refuse to go without his Bible. Willy was a joy to be around, enjoying many different things. Among his favorite things to do was to watch sports on TV. He devotedly watched football, baseball, basketball and other sports, but only in season. When football season started, he dropped baseball, and so on. Willy also enjoyed aspects of life that many take for granted, such as riding in a car, watching a good card game, and watching people play guitar. His favorite time of year was Christmas. Everything about Christmas made him happy. Willy was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Miles McVicker, his sister, Emily Mae McVicker, his father, William Michael McVicker Sr., his maternal grandparents, Vonda Delphine Herrin and Dr. Raford B. Herrin, and his paternal grandparents, Alpha Rankins McVicker and Harry M. McVicker. Survivors include his mother, Cynthia V. McVicker, his aunts and uncles, Melinda Creech (Joe), of Cumberland, Kentucky; Rebekah Hammond (Larry), of Louisville, Kentucky; Kenneth Herrin, of Lexington, Kentucky; Aneta Grugin (Joel), of Owenton, Kentucky; Tina Sexton (Jeff), of Charlottesville, Virginia; Barton Herrin (Tammy), of Sonora, Kentucky; Leesa Paynter (Skip), of Sulpher, Kentucky; and Connie McVicker, of Danville, Kentucky, and fifteen cousins from throughout Kentucky and beyond. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a burial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020, Vine Grove Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Joe Weber and Cameron Paynter. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Brooks Baptist Church, Elizabethtown, Kentucky
