Gloria Mae Jones, 90, died Thursday, December 20, 2018. She was born September 14, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Anthony and Ethel Ramsey Bylski. She married the love of her life, James Lee Jones, on December 27, 1951, shortly before he was sent to fight in the Korean War. When Jim returned to civilian life he and Gloria started their family in Dearborn, Michigan, and moved to Kentucky in 1960 to begin their grocery business. They ended up in Elizabethtown, KY, in 1967 and remained there for over 50 years. Gloria was active in the store business as well as their church, the Womens Club of Elizabethtown, and the Gideons Ministry. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2015 and most recently resided in Lexington, Kentucky at the Willows at Citation, where she received excellent care in her last days. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Dan) Holt of Lexington, KY, and Sandy (Rex) Nevitt of Elizabethtown; four grandsons, Jason Nevitt, Aaron (Michelle) Nevitt, both of Elizabethtown; James Andrew Andy (Tiffany) Holt of Lexington, and Matthew (Shannon) Holt of Carrollton, KY; and seven great-grandchildren, Bella Holt, Braden Nevitt, Parker Nevitt, Luke Holt, Emerson Nevitt, Alaina Holt, and John Holt. She also welcomed four step-grandchildren into her life and home, Diane (Don) Riddell, Danny (Jeannie) Holt, Alvie Holt, and Janet (Brandon) Johnson; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 26, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and the funeral will be on Thursday, December 27 (Jim and Glorias wedding anniversary) at Berean Baptist Church in Elizabethtown at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
