Chester William "Bud" Gregory, Jr. 88 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at his home. Bud served in the U.S. Marines and was the founder of Bud's Fruit Market and Bud's Produce, where he worked until retirement. He was a member of the Morrison Masonic Lodge F & AM and the Riasok Shrine Club and Severns Valley Baptist Church, where he was known for giving lifesavers and giving the best hugs. He formerly served on the Elizabethtown City Council, the Board of Directors of Houchins Industry and the Kentucky Retail Federation. He was a former Kentucky State Representative and Elizabethtown Police Officer. He was preceded in death by his son, Chester William "Billy" Gregory, III; a sister, Mary Ann Selter and his parents, Chester William and Lillie Mae Gregory He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lola Edwards Gregory; daughter, Kay Gregory Straney (Gene); two grandchildren, Melissa Straney Gregory (Jeff) and William Gregory Straney (Melissa); six grandchildren, Jey, Ryder, Harper and Emerson Gregory and Dupree and Elbie Straney; two sisters, Margie Carby and Bonnie Mercer; one brother, Kenny Gregory; his brother-in-law, Bob Selter; sister-in-law, Louise Edwards; several cousins, nieces and nephews and his four special caregivers and friends, Mary Burton, Gloria Borders, Sarah Drane and Glennie Jenkins. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Severns Valley Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home.
