Jack Jeffers Scott

Jack Jeffers Scott, 96, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Jack was born in Stith Valley in Meade County, Kentucky. He was married to his sweetheart, Alice Bondurant Scott, for 75 years. Jack's first love was farming, and he had a degree in agriculture from the University of Kentucky. During his career, he served in the Navy in World War II, he helped teach returning GI's new farm technology, he worked in community banking, he worked for the FDIC, he was a stockbroker, and he was an environmental conservationist. He was the founding president of Citizen's Bank of Elizabethtown, now WesBanco. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, The Rev. Alice Bondurant Scott; his parents, Walter Lee and Ruth Fontaine Scott; his siblings, Walter Scott, William F. Scott, James Scott, Jessie Williams, Mary Foote and Rena Lou Parks; a grandson, Dow Robey; a son-in-law, Lyle Robey; and two great grandchildren, Emily Catherine Winfrey and Reese Isabella Edmondson. He is survived by two sons, John J. (Sandra) Scott and William L. Scott (Marjorie Haskell); three daughters, Alice Joan Robey, Rachel Scott (Larry) Marshall and Ann Bondurant Scott (Steve Yonce); eight grandchildren, Matthew Robey, William James, Edward James, David Scott Alyssa Winfrey, Emily Edmondson, Scott Hudson and Alec Hudson; and eight great grandchildren, Dylan Robey, Elizabeth James, Braden Scott, Kaitlynn Scott, Jackson Winfrey, Landon Winfrey, Ian Edmondson and Isaac Edmondson. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, November 10th, with a Memorial Service beginning at 11 a.m., all at Memorial United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) through Memorial United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, or to Greenspace of Elizabethtown.
