Teresa Helen Skees Howlett

Teresa Helen Skees Howlett, 89, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at The Willows in Lexington, Kentucky. She was a native of Hardin County and graduated from Bethlehem Academy. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, where she served on the Bereavement Committee, and sang in the the church and Resurrection Choirs, and was the former organist at St. Anthony's Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Howlett; parents, William Robert and Teresa Elizabeth Gatton Skees; four brothers, Mike Skees, R. Denis Skees, Marion Skees, and Bernard Skees and two sisters, Elizabeth Skees and Laurene Medley. She is survived by three sons, Steve Howlett, John R. (Debbie) Howlett, and Bertrand Howlett; six daughters, Diana Howlett (Jim Ashton), Laura Howlett (Jeff Rice), Rosemary Vance (Roger Teague), Carol Howlett, Valerie Howlett (Forrest Day) and Michelle Howlett; one sister, Norma Howlett; a brother, Hugh Skees; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Casey Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home. A prayer vigil will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
