James Dale Spurrier

James Dale Spurrier, 77 of Bardstown, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Grayson County and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He retired after 40 years in the construction business, where he worked for Hall Contracting of Kentucky and Shamrock International. After retirement, he was the Manager of Heartland Self Storage, worked at R & W Marine and drove a bus for Hardin County Schools. He was a member of the Stephensburg Masonic Lodge #212 F & AM, Kosair Shrine Club, Riasok Shrine Club and Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Spurrier; his parents, James Tilford and Ruby Inez Henderson Spurrier and a sister, Sue Brasfield. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Yates Spurrier; one son, Eric Spurrier of Elizabethtown; two step sons, Ernest "Butch" Goodin (Sara) of Magnolia and David "Rusty" Goodin (Anita) of Elizabethtown; one half brother, Charles Pendleton of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Michael (Shellie) Miller, Zoe Spurrier, Logan Goodin and Levi Goodin and two great grandchildren, Harbor and Rhett Miller. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Monday.
