Dorothy Laswell Prothero, 91, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, September 10, 2018 at Atria Assisted Living. She was a native of Hardin County, and a longtime member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a pharmacy technician and worked in the financial office at Hardin Memorial Hospital where she was also a longtime volunteer for the Hardin Memorial Health Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Laswell; a granddaughter, Hannah Lea Hinton; parents, Ezra and Mary Louise Wright Ash; and son-in-law, Billy Ray. She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Prothero; two daughters, Jan Ray of Rineyville and Pam (Mark) Hinton of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Bradley (Carol) Ray, Patrick (Elise) Ray, Kaleigh Ray, Adam Hinton, Garrett (Emily) Hinton; and five great grandchildren, Elizabeth Ray, Emily Ray, Lexi Taulbee, Mahala Taulbee, and Hannah Grace Hinton. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Caleb Wheat officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and continues at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hosparus.
