Vincenzo "Jim" Joseph May (DiMaggio)

Vincenzo "Jim" Joseph May (DiMaggio), 91, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, July 3, at Hardin Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of New London, CT. He entered the Army in Jan. 1945 and retired after having served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam as a medic in 1971. He is also retired from Naval Ordnance Station in Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents Pasquale and Concetta DiMaggio; a brother Frank DiMaggio; two sisters Sarah Hammel and Rose Swinski and a brother-in-law, all from Connecticut; a brother-in-law, John French, from Elizabethtown. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth French May of Elizabethtown; a son, Kenneth (Susan) May and three grandchildren: Katie, Abbie and Maggie, Bowling Green; a daughter, Lena May, Bowling Green; three daughters from Arizona, Venus (Joe) Grimes, Vanessa (Michael) Reid and Veronica (Mike) Nichols and a sister, Eleanor Colby of East Lyme, CT. Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7th at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow with military honors at Hardin Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 6th and continue after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
