Norman Gene Slinker, 83, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, July 1, 2018. He was a native of Hardin County and retired from the City of Elizabethtown after 37 years. He was a giving man, loved to farm, fish and work from daylight to dark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Carroll Slinker; parents, Raymond and Sally Abell Slinker; sister, Helen Carroll; and half sister, Ellen Jeffries; brothers, Earl, Herbert, and George Slinker. He is survived by three daughters, Ella Dillard and Terry Burchell both of Elizabethtown and Carol Slinker of Greensburg; son, Randall Sweet of Elizabethtown; and one brother, Dorise Slinker of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Jason Dillard of Elizabethtown, Shannon Johnson and Joshua Akers both of Greensburg and Breanna Sweet and Madison Sweet of Louisville; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Round Top Cemetery.
