Edna Earle Drane

Edna Earle Drane, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at her home. A native of Hardin County, she was a faithful member of College Heights United Methodist Church where she served as one of the original church kitchen ladies for many years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She was Past Worthy Matron of Pirtle Chapter of Eastern Star No. 449 and served for the past 30 years as a Chaplain for that Chapter. Edna is best known as an excellent seamstress, having served for her clients for many years. One summer she sewed the dresses for 12 weddings. She is also known for her quilting, joyfully providing all members of her family with their special quilt. Her past accomplishments include Methodist Woman of the year, successful caterer, and volunteer for the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years at his passing, Carroll Drane; her parents, Thomas and Nettie Mae Stone; two sisters, Gladys and Thelma; a brother, Paul; a daughter, Betty; a son, Kenneth; and a grandson, Jimmy Robinson. She is survived by two daughters, Dianna (Ed) Hunsinger of Goshen, KY and Judy (David) Ward of Elizabethtown; 8 grandchildren, Gina (Terry) Broyles, Rhonda (Doug) Tate, Sandy (Randy) Humphrey, Christina Faletti, Julie (Chad) Cummins, Joanna (Brian) Stoll, Joey (Cheryl) Ward, and Michael (Dana) Ward; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 12 noon at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Gary maguffee and Rev. Don Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
