George William Florence

George William Florence, 83, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Larue County, was a member of Seventh Day Sabbath Keeping Church of God, served in the United States Navy and retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation. He loved his family, gardening, and spoiling his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Battcher Florence; daughter, Gayle M. Florence; parents, James Henry Florence and Mary Germaine Bartley Florence; five siblings, Joyce Phillips, Shirley Smith, Judy Fehrman, Darrell Florence, and Wilma Priddy; and one grandson, Michael Kevin Florence. He is survived by three daughters, Karen Beauchamp, Kim (Tim) Warren all of Hodgenville, and Lisa (Dwayne) Bracken of Elizabethtown; one son, Joseph I. (Betty) Bohannon of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; two siblings, James Kenneth Florence and Sharon Florence both of Louisville; and six grandchildren, James K. Florence, Jr., Bryan K. Florence, Christopher W. Bracken, Corey E. Bracken, Kasey M. Gardner, and Tara E. Warren. The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
