Norman Lee Jewell

Norman Jewell of Elizabethtown, Kentucky died on Monday, January 29, 2018 at age 78. Norman was born in 1939 in Hodgenville, Kentucky to Christie and Lewis Jewell. He worked for Nolin RECC for forty-seven years until his retirement in 2002. Stormin' Norman played basketball for Hodgenville High School, winners of the 1958 Regional Basketball Tournament. He was an avid sports enthusiast playing softball, bowling, and golf. One of his proudest achievements was Tournament Coordinator for the Ben Hogan Elizabethtown Open in 1991. He was a Kentucky Colonel, board member of the Youth Theater of Hardin County, and Elizabethtown Country Club. Norman is preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica "Lynnie" Jewell MacDonald; brother, Robert Jewell; and two sisters, Francis Sidebottom and Christine Whitlock-Bunch. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Gale Jewell and three children, Julie (Jennifer) Jewell of Florida, Erik (Devon) Carlson of Elizabethtown, and Amber (Kyle) Davis of Germany. His five grandchildren are Drewanne Carlson, Katherine MacDonald, Parker Davis, Quinton Davis, and Tanner Davis. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville with Brother Carlie Riggs officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to a charity of choice or to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
