Della Jean Skaggs, 89 of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Helmwood Healthcare. She was a native of Springfield, KY and a 70 year member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she was in the Harmony Sunday School Class and a member of MUMS Group. She retired from Bussman's, graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business College, was an avid UK fan and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Allen Skaggs; one son, Phil Skaggs; three brothers, H. B. Mattingly, Roy Mattingly and Freeman Mattingly; four sisters, Elizabeth Clarkson, Pearl Schaeg, Isabell Goff and Jenny Matthews and a granddaughter, Brandy Skaggs. She is survived by three children, Linda (Lon) Galvin of Elizabethtown, David Allen Skaggs of Los Angelas and Gary Wayne Skaggs of North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Skaggs of Hot Springs, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Mark Galvin, Mitchell Galvin, Casey Skaggs, Carly Skaggs, Amanda Skaggs, Erik Skaggs and Amber Hazelton and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
