Roy Dillard, Jr., 85 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, January 12, 2018 at the home of his daughter. He was a farmer and native of Elizabethtown. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from Vulcan Materials in 1994 after 36 years. He always enjoyed camping, fishing, working on the farm and gardening. He never met a stranger. He loved and enjoyed driving the church van at New Hope Community Church where he was a member and loved by all of his church family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Swartz Dillard; his parents, Roy Dillard, Sr. and Martha Coffman Dillard; his brothers, William Joseph Dillard, Johnnie Lee Dillard, and James Everett Dillard; and sisters, Francis M. Dillard and Margaret L. Dillard. He is survived by his daughter, Doris Owens of Buffalo, KY; sons, Roy Arthur Dillard (Brenda) of Eastview, KY, and Bruce Dillard (Weslene) of Cecilia, KY; grandchildren, Rhonda Cary (Brian) of Ohio, Tiffany Beauchamp (Bradley) of Leitchfield, KY, Mara Thomas (Logan) of Cecilia, KY, Bryce Dillard of Cecilia, KY, Kylie Short (Robert) of Fort Worth, TX, and Jeffery Henderson of Buffalo, KY; great grandchildren, Seth Cary, Gabe Cary, Cameron Cary, Roark Cary, Lilly Cary, and Laramie Beauchamp; sister, Elsie Newton (Glendal); brothers, Thomas Richard Dillard, Raymond Ray Dillard, Gary Wayne Dillard, and Owen Daniel Dillard; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Patty Day and Ophelia Rose. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Hope Community Church with Pastor Herb Williams, Pastor Phillip Quesenberry, and Pastor Ron Tungate officiating. Burial will follow in the New Horizon Cemetery in Glendale, KY. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and continues after 9 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home.
