Carl Rose Isham was born on July 15, 1927 in Jenkinsville, KY to Cecil and Allene Isham. He passed away peacefully after a long and fruitful life on January 11, 2018 surrounded by family and friends after a short illness. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie (Helen). He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Devine Isham, one daughter, Melissa McGrew, and one grandson, Mason Carl McGrew. He loved his "adoptive" granddaughters, Allison Case, Amanda Case Yates, and Sarah Berry like his own. Carl was an Air Force Veteran serving his country during World War II. He moved to Elizabethtown in 1950. Brown's Ice Cream Company was his employer for 35 years, starting out as an Ice Cream delivery man and ending in delivery management. He enjoyed his customers along his route as everyone was always glad to see the Ice Cream man deliver to stores all across our region. After Brown's closed, he moved to managing a precast concrete company. He spent many years learning this business and eventually opened his own company, Isham Concrete Products in 1986 which he worked until the day he entered the hospital two weeks ago. Since his youth, Carl was devoted to his family, community, and his church. Carl was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church for 65 years, he served faithfully as a deacon, Sunday School director, Training Union Leader, and was on the building committee for two of the new church facilities on Poplar and Ring Road. Carl served as a city councilman for the City of Elizabethtown for 9 years and was instrumental in bringing an airport to town as well as the Pritchard Community Center. He was inducted into the honorable order of Kentucky Colonels in 1979. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Severns Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Langley officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
