Leonard "Santa" Hobbs

Leonard "Santa" Hobbs, 83, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center at Norton Healthcare in Louisville. He was born October 20, 1934 in Yeaman, Kentucky, the son of Wendell and Evelyn Smith Hobbs formerly of New Albany, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Hobbs; and brother, Hayward Hobbs. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lori Creech Hobbs of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; sons, Danny Hobbs and Donald Hobbs both of New Albany, Indiana; sisters, Louise Ross of Clarksville, Indiana, Patricia Schickle, and Peg Halfman Stayton both of New Albany, Indiana; and dear friends, Rick and Pam Ross and their daughter, Allyson (Andrew) Trombley. He was a conductor for Southern Railroad and was a retired truck driver for Keyboard Carriage. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an avid Towne Mall walker for 25 years. Leonard brought a lot of smiles to children's faces for more than 40 years being Santa Claus. He was a member of Kentucky Colonel and a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 47 years. The funeral will be Thursday, December 28th at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Yeaman Cemtery in Grayson County, Kentucky. Visitation is Wednesday, December 27th from 3-8 p.m. and continues after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
