Mary Lois Hilton Humphrey Loyall

Mary Lois Hilton Humphrey Loyall, 93, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017. She was born in 1924, the youngest child of William and Lula Hilton. Her siblings and their spouses all preceded her in entering heaven. She was married to Fisher Humphrey who died during WWII and in 1956, she married Kenneth B. Loyall. The Loyall's were very active in Eastern Star, Amaranth, and White Shrine. She retired with 25 years of service from BellSouth, where she learned her "telephone voice". After retirement she joined the Homemakers Club, the Garden Club, became a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church, and began volunteering at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Kenneth passed away in 1999, leaving her free to charm every man she met. She is survived by her children, Icy Gardner, Trish Whiteaker (Stephen), and Lynn Miller (Neal); seven granddaughters, one grandson, and three great-granddaughters. Her children are left to treasure all of her advice- "Don't wish for something exciting, everything exciting is not good." "You're bored, I will give you something to do." "It's all in your head." The answer to every boo-boo was rubbing alcohol. And of course her amazing ability to call all three granddaughters by every other child's name-and sometimes the dog's name, before she hit the correct one, and we will never see an elephant and not think of her. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Langley officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and continues after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
