Darnell Helm, 83 of Elizabethtown died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Hart County and a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. He was the Owner and Operator of Helm's Plastering, retired from Local Union #123 and was a Farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Hazel Helm; two sons, Michael Dean Helm and Russell Dale Helm; a grandson, Phillip Darrell Helm, Jr.; his parents, Fielden H. Helm, Bessie Welsh; his step mother, Edith Helm and his siblings, Walter Helm, Ruth Dye, Elsie Keplinger, Marie Sherrard, Dorothy May, Minnie Woosley, Irma Helm and his twin sister, Odell Cook. He is survived by two sons, Phillip Helm, Sr. and Billy (Tammy) Helm all of Elizabethtown; five daughters, Jeanette (Dennis) Pellman, Jeanene (Bruce) Hart, Joann (Billy) Juett all of Elizabethtown and Janice (Walter) Brawner and Jeanell (Wayne) White all of Glendale; brother-in-law and best friend, Raymond Woosley of Elizabethtown; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Valley Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Kerr and Rev. Shaun Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Creek Cemetery.
