Alan Dirk Moore, 42, of Lexington died Saturday Sept. 30, 2017 in his childhood home in Elizabethtown surrounded by his family and friend Alison. A native of KY, he graduated from Eastern KY Univ., and studied Shaolin Kempo. After surviving Hodgkins Lymphoma at 15, he obtained a PA in Pathology to help others in their fight against cancer. His long career at PCL ended after a stroke at 36. His determination in recovery allowed him to continue to work in Pathology while working towards a Master’s in Health Administration, until this sudden and aggressive battle with adenocarcinoma. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Denver Moore. He is survived by his mother, Margrit Moore, two sisters Kirsten Surgi and Cora Moore, one brother Michael Moore, brother-in-law Rene” Surgi, two half-sisters Diana Lynn Staton and Terry Jean Morgan, and one half brother Kevin Charles Moore and his beloved dog Maximus. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brown Funeral Home, Wednesday evening October 4, 2017, between 4PM to 8PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family asks that donations be made for his services.
