Ernest Joel Brinegar 70 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born March 17, 1947 and graduated from Berea Foundation High School, received his BS from Berea College and his Masters Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and avid golfer. He had a strong christian faith and attended First Christian Church and Via De Cristo. He was formerly very active with Central Hardin Baseball Boosters Club and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lola and Glenn Brinegar and his brother, Jim Brinegar. He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Sumner Brinegar; a son, Daniel Joel (Tobi) Brinegar; a daughter, Blaire Sumner Wagoner; grandchildren, Tanner Brinegar, Shepherd Brinegar, Sakari Wagoner, Belle Wagoner and Brailey Wagoner; three brothers, Thomas Brinegar, Jerry Brinegar and DeWayne (Carolyn) Brinegar and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Hardin Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berea College Alumni Association.
