LaVon Ray Smith, 87 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Lafayette, IN. Her greatest joy was being a loving mother and grandmother, passing on life lessons. She will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched in her 87 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Aubrey Smith; her parents, Nicholas and Rosa McClure Ray; four brothers, Guy Ray, Homer Ray, Lewis Ray and Garland Ray and four sisters, Alma Dowdell, Frances Cundiff, Ruby Sherrard and Bessie Carter. She is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Mills of Elizabethtown; one grandson and his wife, Jeffrey S. and Kaelin Mills of Elizabethtown and special friends, Robert W. and Regina Mills of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be Wednesday at 12 noon at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
