Paul Eugene Fizer

Paul Eugene "Gene" Fizer, 73 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home. He was a native of Ward, WV, served in the Vietnam War and three tours with the U.S. Army and was a car and rv salesman. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Radcliff and was a member of the American Legion Post #113. He was an avid fisherman and was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was known as Papaw Genius to his great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Matthew and Ivy Mae Kessell Fizer; a granddaughter, Kendra Fizer and two sisters, Betty Tolley and Lynn Sigmon. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Deborah Fizer; five sons, Lance (Angie) Fizer, Michael (Mona) Fizer, Shay (Meka) Fizer, Carl (Kelly) Everhart and Richard (Laura) Warren; four daughters, Susie (Mike) DeRuiter, Marsha (Jeff) Garcia, Stacy (Travis) Robinson and Brooke Everhart; six sisters, Sandra (James) Singleton, Rita (Charlie) Beard, Sharon Tuck, Deloris Tittle, Judy Slate and Drema Walch; 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Jaspar officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and continue after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Hosparus.
